We get many queries about video for websites, so this week we've asked our local video experts for their insights on how to make video work for SEO.
If you’re running a website, videos are a great way to engage your audience and provide them with information in an easily digestible format. Studies have shown that people are more likely to watch a video than read a block of text, so if you have something you want to communicate to your visitors, a video is a great way to do it. You can use videos to introduce yourself and your team, give demonstrations or tutorials, or simply share some highlights from your latest event. There’s no limit to what you can do with videos, so if you’re not using them already, now is the time to start.
There’s no doubt that videos are a powerful marketing tool.
They’re attention-grabbing, engaging, and highly shareable. But did you know that videos can also be a great way to improve your website’s SEO? Search engines love videos because they signal fresh, original content. When you add videos to your website, you’re telling the search engines that your site is constantly being updated with new, relevant information. This helps your site rank higher in search results, making it more likely that people will find you when they’re searching for the products or services you offer.
In addition to helping with SEO, videos can also help boost your website’s conversion rates.
People are more likely to watch a video than read a block of text, so adding videos to your site can help persuade visitors to take the actions you want them to (such as signing up for your email list or making a purchase).
What is Video SEO?
Search Engine Optimization is a great way to improve your website’s ranking in search engine results pages. The higher your website ranks, the more likely people are to find it. And, of course, the more people who find your website, the more likely they are to do business with you.
There are a number of things you can do to improve your website’s SEO.
One is to create videos for your website. Videos are a great way to engage potential customers and give them a reason to visit your site. In addition, videos can help you rank higher in search engine results pages, since they’re often associated with high-quality content. So, if you’re looking for a great way to improve your website’s SEO, videos are a great option.
Pro Tip from WSI Digital Advisors : Treat your video as you would your other visual content – give your video a title and a description, using your researched keywords. Add internal links to relevant content within your site for that extra edge.
How will Video SEO help my business?
Many business owners are hesitant to invest in videos for their websites, but videos can be a great way to improve your website’s SEO. Search engines love videos because they signal to the search engine that your website is active and relevant. In addition, videos help to break up text and make your website more visually appealing, both of which are important factors in SEO.
Finally, videos give you the opportunity to include keywords and other essential information in the video description, which can help your website rank higher in search engine results pages. As a result, investing in videos for your website is a great way to improve your business’s SEO!

Video is the most effective form of marketing content for several years now, and it’s going nowhere but up in 2022 – no one can deny how powerful videos are anymore. The only question left then would be whether your company should implement a strategy with their production capabilities as soon as possible before other businesses catch onto this trend too late!
Video production has become an increasingly popular means of conveying information, especially when it comes to marketing. The best teams can use their skills in creative video production which is highly specialised and requires specific knowledge about what your audience’s perception on behalf of yourself or company will be after watching them.
It also shows that a certain brand values quality over quantity because they only produce high-quality content rather than trying deliver every single detail through another form such as text alone. In recent times there have been many changes within business including how customers receive info – nowadays its mostly via digital media.
What kind of videos should you make?
You will need to first think and consider the needs of your business and what kind of video content that you’d like to associate and create for your business. This will make a difference in the format or style of your videos in the production stage of creating the videos. You must consider lighting, quality, audio recording equipment is and camera quality.
When it comes to videos for websites, businesses need to consider what will appeal to their target audience. After all, the whole point of posting videos online is to attract viewers and potential customers. For that reason, it’s important to avoid generic videos that could be
applied to any business. Instead, cater your videos to your specific industry and audience.
For example, if you’re a florist, you might create a video tutorial on how to arrange flowers. Or if you sell products that are targeted at a certain age group, you might produce a video that features young people using your products. By tailoring your videos to your business, you stand a much better chance of engaging viewers and driving conversions.
Why you should partner up with a video production company.
A production company could be a good idea to get into contact with about creating videos for your website! Hiring a production company gives you the advantage of letting someone do all the hard work, if you engage with a production company, you just tell them what kind of
video you want to create, and they’ll sort the rest out for you…
The videos would show how the website works and how it can be used to help people. They would also be entertaining and engaging. The production company could use a variety of techniques to create the videos, including animation, live action, and infographics. The videos would be short and to the point, but they would be able to communicate a lot of information in a short period of time. This would make them perfect for websites that want to provide a lot of information without overwhelming their users.

8 tips for Video SEO
Strong page content – video for video sake won’t do much for you! A poorly written page won’t rank, even if the video looks like it was produced by Quentin Tarantino.
Prepare for your video – What do you want to achieve? Are your calls to action clear? How does the video support your page content? How long should the video be? How professional do you need it to look?
Video transcript – Google still finds text easier to index than images. Plus, your website video is watchable by people without headphones who don’t want to disturb others.
Engaging thumbnail image– No-one wants to click on a grumpy looking face! Wistia report a 30% higher play rate from videos with custom human thumbnails. Also, make sure the image is relevant to what you want to be found for from the video – it sounds obvious, but take a look out how many people try to be clever and miss the point!
Video metadata – The title and description of your video are the way Google initially assesses the relevancy of your website video. Include your target keywords and make sure the description demonstrates how the video is relevant to your website.
Less is more – Google typically picks the first video on a page to index – pick your best, most relevant video to the page copy, rather than smattering the page with several.
Make video the feature – The more confident you are, the more confident Google will be! Don’t hide website video content low down the page, make it the hero of your story.
Don’t duplicate – If you embed the same video twice in your website, Google indexes it twice. This is bad! You are essentially competing against yourself!
